Moving Anxiety

If you’ve been isolated with a partner throughout Lockdown, you’re probably now ready to move in together, but a move into a new home can really be a rollercoaster of emotions. Here at Blue Box Storage, we look at how to deal with Moving Anxiety.

It’s the start of a new chapter, a step towards a new life and location with the opportunity to explore new challenges. However, moving home can involve a lot of changes that causes a lot of stress and Anxiety.

To have a smooth, moving experience it is helpful to understand what can make a move more stressful, so, that you can reduce potential moving anxiety.

Why do we get Moving Anxiety?

There is no single cause of stress when it comes to moving house, but instead it can be a bunch of smaller things that make the process stressful. Here are just some of the things that can cause anxiety:

Change

Of course, when you move a lot change is involved. Moving somewhere completely different, with a new layout, possible changing of a job and school changing.

Finance

There are a lot of costs that are associated with moving, and it causes people to worry about money.

Time

Whether you’re moving across the street, town or a new country, it will take time

How to manage moving anxiety

If you are suffering from the above, it is important that you try to improve by these steps.

Having the right Attitude

When you are moving home, it is important that you adopt a positive attitude to help you get through the moving process. Consider all the good things about the move, such as meeting new friends and finding new activities to do in the local area. These things may only be little, but by having a glass half-full perspective can really help you to mitigate anxiety.

Do your Research

A big cause of moving anxiety is the sense of change that comes with the move. Stepping into the unknown is scary enough, especially if you are pursuing a new life there. Start by researching the new area, figure out things to do, where the nearest doctors’ surgeries are, where your nearest shop is, and anything else you feel will be useful. This way you will feel a little more relaxed when you finally move to the new area.

Get Help when you need it

Whether you're moving out alone or relocating with the entire family, it is really important to remember that you are not alone. Accepting help when moving home is more important than ever, and help from friends and family can help you relax and enjoy the experience. Of course, you can also hire professionals if you think the job is too big
